It is finally all go for work on the major sections of the redevelopment of Dubbo Hospital, a major boost for health services in the region.
The work will start in six weeks.
The NSW government has announced an increase in the budget from $79.8 to $91 million and that the main works contract has been awarded to Broad Construction Services.
Work on refurbishment of the hospital began in late 2012 and it is expected to be completed by late next year.
But not all of the extra funds go to improving the hospital.
The budget increase has covered costs associated with the voluntary administration last year of National Build Plan, the original contractor for early work on the site.
The event cast a cloud over the project after several Dubbo sub-contractors were left out of pocket.
The extra cash will also cover higher than expected prices for works.
Hopefully, there will be no further disruptions or delays and the improved hospital will be completed on time and within budget.
