About 8.40pm on Wednesday, January 29, police attended a bowling club on Agate Street on an unrelated matter, when they heard crying in the car park.
The officers located two girls inside a Toyota Hilux in the car park.
The children, aged two and four, were seated on the rear seats and secured in seat belts. Police allege the children were crying and appeared distressed.
The car was unlocked with the windows down, and the ambient temperature was between 30 and 35 degrees Celsius.
Police located the children’s mother inside the bowling club.
The 25-year-old woman has been issued a court attendance notice for two counts of Leave Child Unattended.
She will appear at Lightning Ridge Local Court on Wednesday, April 16.
The children did not require medical treatment.
