A big weekend's shooting for Dubbo Pistol Club members both at home and away. Six Dubbo members travelled to Gulgong on the weekend to compete in the Safari Firearms Gulgong Open.

The team performed well in the five-event program. On Saturday in the WA1500 revolver match Paul Williamson (1460) scored a third and Mark Coggan (1417) seventh in masters. Steve Holmes (1234) scored sixth in sharpshooter.
Paul backed up with an equal fourth in WA1500 auto.
Better results in the 25-yard service match which followed saw Ray Sloey (618) take out second in A-grade, with Mark Coggan (600) seventh and Paul Williamson (596) ninth. Steve Holmes(560) scored a win in C-grade with Paula Heffernan (502) coming in fourth.
But the best effort was from Steve Holmes winning the 1500 tumbling match.
Sunday saw the competition fire up at 8am with service pistol. Three second placings to Dubbo members in this match.
A-grade saw Paul Williamson (849) second, with Ray Sloey (807) eighth and Bob Dowling (797) 10th. B-grade saw Mark Coggan (784) take second, and in D-grade Paula Heffernan (684) claimed second place.
Following that the unrestricted service match was closely fought in A-grade, Paul Williamson (867) fifth, Ray Sloey (865) seventh, Bob Dowling (857) eighth, and Mark Coggan (839) 12th. Paula Heffernan scored a ninth place in C-grade.
Well done and a very friendly competitive weekend.
On the home front the two matches of the day were sports pistol and centrefire. Sports attracted a field of 11 with Jim Strachan shooting a personal best and slicing 41 points off his handicap to score the win with Garry Deagan also shooting a personal best in second place and Helen Lord third place this week.

The centrefire match attracted four entries with Warren Johnson proving too good and taking the win over Peter Caligeros in second and John Salter in third.
