International comedian and actor John Cleese is coming to Dubbo to put on a show and help open new accommodation at Taronga Western Plains Zoo (TWPZ).
The unforgettable star of shows like Fawlty Towers and the cult Monty Python films will travel to the city in late March.
TWPZ general manager Matthew Fuller managed a straight face when announcing the visit.
"This is an exciting time for the zoo, not only with John Cleese attending the official opening of Zoofari Lodge but our new luxury lodges are being launched and will soon welcome their first guests," the general manager said.
Redevelopment of Zoofari Lodge since last September had included the construction of 10 new African-inspired luxury lodges overlooking the African Savannah, he said.
The visit to Dubbo's award-winning zoo is not the comedian's first.
"John Cleese has been a great supporter of Taronga and Taronga Western Plains zoos over the years, having last come to Dubbo in 2006," Mr Fuller said.
The general manager confirmed that the 40-year veteran of stage and screen would perform at TWPZ.
He thinks fans will delight in the visitor's "stories and unique type of humour".
"This is a fabulous opportunity to see one of the most influential comedians in entertainment history," Mr Fuller said.
