Pink Stumps Day has been helping the McGrath Foundation hit a "six" since it began in 2011 with more than 2500 clubs, schools, communities and businesses, raising over $2.3 million for the McGrath Foundation.
But this year it's going to be even bigger and pinker than before with the McGrath Foundation aiming to raise a staggering $1 million through communities right across Australia.
From Sydney to Scone, this incredible effort will help the McGrath Foundation ensure every family experiencing breast cancer in Australia has access to a breast care nurse, no matter where they live or their financial situation.
Co-Founder and President of the McGrath Foundation, Glenn McGrath, wants to thank the cricketing community for its support again this year and is proud that for many cricket teams, Pink Stumps Day has become not only a fixture, but a highlight of the community calendar.
"At the McGrath Foundation, having the support of the community is so important to us. Each and every day we see people doing amazing things to help us achieve our goal of a McGrath Breast Care Nurse for every family experiencing breast cancer in Australia," he said.
"We couldn't be prouder of Pink Stumps Day, which is now in its fourth year. It's pretty phenomenal to see thousands of cricket teams, schools, communities and businesses united by their love of cricket and support of the McGrath Foundation - and that's why we're so excited that this Pink Stumps Day will be the biggest and best yet.
"We're gearing up to smash our $1 million fundraising target for 2014 and know communities will get behind us to help us achieve our goal."
Katrina McCosker has held a Pink Stumps Day for the past three years with her community and last year became the McGrath Foundation's highest fundraisers, raising more than $21,000 alone.
"We come from a very close knit community where you have to travel over three hours to your nearest clinic and so having access to a breast care nurse is vital for rural communities like ours," McCosker said.
"We've all known someone who has been exposed to breast cancer and know now more than ever that breast cancer doesn't discriminate and can affect everyone. We're proud to do our part again for our fourth Pink Stumps Day and encourage others to do the same."
The first 1200 teams to step up to the crease and register will receive a special Pink Stumps Day Team Kit valued at more than $500, packed with a set of hot pink stumps and bails, wicket-keeping pads, hot pink cricket balls, 15 caps for players and coaches, pink bat stickers, shoe laces, wristbands, collection boxes and a hot pink McGrath Foundation team kit bag to carry it all.
What's more, every registered club has the chance to enter a competition and tell us in twenty five words or less why they should win the chance to have Australian Cricket legend, Glenn McGrath, attend their Pink Stumps Day on Saturday, 22 February 2014.
