The world champion was critically injured during the high-speed Bridge to Bridge Water Ski Classic on Sunday.
She died on Monday night with her family, well-known and respected in both Wellington and Dubbo, by her side.
NSW Police are investigating how Ms Teelow, 20, fell off her ski at high speed, including reports she hit wake created by another boat.
Inspector David Hogg from Kuring Gai Local Area Command said police were looking at every possibility.
The driver and observer in the boat had undergone mandatory testing on the day as a matter of course and police had obtained statements from them, he said.
The inspector appealed for witnesses and anyone who may have been filming the race to come forward to assist their inquiries.
“We’re doing whatever we can to prepare a brief for the coroner... to help the family understand why this accident happened,” he said.
Kristie Middleton, chief of race organiser and governing body Ski Racing Australia, yesterday referred the Daily Liberal to an earlier statement.
“The ski racing fraternity is deeply saddened by Sarah’s passing and extends its condolences to her family,” Ski Racing Australia said in the statement.
“Ski Racing Australia is co-operating with police and maritime authorities in their investigations.”
Wellington mayor Rod Buhr said his thoughts were with the Teelow family.
“The town is very saddened at the news of Sarah’s passing,” he said.
“She was a popular young person and represented her country in the sport she loved.”
