STUDENTS from Pollet's Martial Arts Centre travelled to Bathurst earlier this month to compete in the club's National Championship tournament.
The team of students watched their months of hard work pay off when they brought home a treasure trove of trophies.
The competition was fierce and had students as young as five years old take to the mat to demonstrate their skills in a variety of divisions.
The first members of the Dubbo team to take to stage were Coby Alderton, Diesel Alderton and Ericka Keizer.
These 'Little Tigers' were put through their paces in a series of events that tested their skills and abilities.
The trio of tigers performed excellently in their divisions with Ericka placing third in the five-year-old division.
Coby and Ericka went on to compete in jiu jitsu, point sparring and koshiki.
Ericka placed third in her group and Coby came a close fourth place against much older opponents.
Dubbo had several competitors compete in traditional kata and weapons.
Tammy Hulak made her tournament debut by winning her weapons division and placing equal third in kata.
Brett Keizer competed in kata for the first time and placed third, he also placed second in showmanship with his daughter Ericka.
Eight-year-old Makaah Darcy did exceptionally well, placing second in both kata and weapons. Melissa Wass took to the mat for the second time and won the 15 years female kata division against higher graded competitors.
"Kata is difficult to master, and to have our students do so well is a testament to their dedication," Sensei Amanda George said.
The team dominated the Kempo Jiu Jitsu competition with Justin Arnold submitting four opponents to take the win and Ash Alderton taking on heavier contenders and placing first in his division.
Sarah Brown fought through three gruelling matches to take second in the women's over-18 group.
Thirteen-year-old Ash went on to take the under-18 male koshiki division as well.
Daniel Horder showed his skill in point sparring where he placed third and second in koshiki. Daniel fought later in the day in Muay Thai and came out the winner.
The evening saw more of the Dubbo team step into the ring for the Muay Thai competition. There were seven fighters from Dubbo that entered, with four of them coming out on top.
Sarah Brown started off Dubbo's winning streak, followed by Riley Barker, Imogen Kosef and Daniel Horder.
Kaitlyn Alchin, Ash Alderton and Dio Yuwono came second in their bouts by the smallest of margins.
"Our Muay Thai students really showcased the level they're at by fighting opponents from as far as Sydney and coming out on top. I'm very proud of them, especially the girls, they're in their mid-teens and really know how to handle themselves." Sensei Matt March said.
