The Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) issued a severe weather warning yesterday morning in anticipation of gale force winds expected over south east and central NSW ahead of a strong cold front.
Winds were expected to average 65km/h and peak gusts of more than 100km/h for most of the state including; the Metropolitan, Hunter, Illawarra, South Coast, Central Tablelands, Southern Tablelands, Central West Slopes and Plains, South West Slopes, Snowy Mountains and Australian Capital Territory forecast districts.
NSW SES acting region controller Macquarie Region Nichole Richardson said yesterday morning the area was experiencing windy conditions.
"There is a current warning (from BOM) in and there was one a couple of days ago for the winds," she said.
There had been no calls for the services of the Dubbo SES unit since mid September as of yesterday morning.
"There is a chance it is coming out way," Ms Richardson said.
"We will wait and see."
In the event of a storm the SES advises that people should move vehicles under cover or away from trees, secure loose items around their property, keep clear of fallen power lines and beware of fallen trees or debris on the road. For emergency help ring your local SES on 132 500.
