VicWind spokesman Andrew Bray said people must be highly vigilant and extremely sceptical when Dr Sarah Laurie comes to town.
"What's at stake here are jobs, sustainable income for farmers and investment in regional communities," Mr Bray said.
"The people of Wellington should be very wary indeed of passing up these benefits on the basis of misinformation served up by an ex-doctor on a mission."
He said Dr Laurie repeated her claim in evidence to the Planning Assessment Committee hearing on Monday afternoon that infrasound from wind turbines caused health problems.
This came less than a week after monitoring of infrasound levels at the Macarthur Wind Farm in South West Victoria showed infrasound levels were the same when the wind farm was fully operating as it was before it was switched on, Mr Bray said.
"While there is absolutely no evidence that wind turbines cause illness, there is evidence when campaigners like Ms Laurie come to town people's anxieties and stress levels are raised and people sometimes associate this increased stress with the wind farms," Mr Bray said.
