THREE feature race wins was the tally last week for Narromine trainer Kylie Kennedy after Millenium Hawk won the Alkane Resources Tomingley Picnic Cup (1500m) on Saturday.
Dr Remlap started the ball rolling by winning the Grenfell Picnic Cup and the following day the magnificent grey gelding Spectacular Iam won the $25,000 Queanbeyan Quickie (1000m).
Kylie Kennedy started both Dr Remlap and Millenium Hawk in the cup at Tomingley with the latter coming out on top. After making the early pace Dr Remlap kicked away from Rockbuster and Discovery Lad approaching the hometurn and swung the corner with a good lead.
Coming from midfield Millenium Hawk (Blake Ryan, $4.80) ran home strongly to win by over four lengths from Judge Smails (Alan Barton, $3.20 fav) and Dr Remlap (Ricky Blewitt, $3.50).
Millenium Hawk is raced by Narromine Turf Club committeeman Mark Bourchier and his wife Cath Bourchier with Glenn and Sue Wallace (Narromine), Keith and Toni Pender (Bathurst) and Brian and Tammy Howell (Newcastle).
Lindsey Kennedy, husband of Kylie Kennedy, also had a good week as a trainer, winning at Brewarrina and Nyngan with Dodge Tide and at Tomingley with Pride Of Gold. Backed from 3.50 to 1.90 favouritism Pride Of Gold won an incident-packed Rod Hore - Peter Angus Memorial Maiden Plate (1100m).
After missing the start by six lengths Pride Of Gold (Alan Barton) circled the field to lead and despite veering to the outside fence in the straight managed to win by nearly a length from Benearly (Stuart Brown, 2.80, 5.00) with Blu Lass (Ricky Blewitt, 4.00), third.
Pride Of Gold and Benearly both ran off the track after the finish with Stuart Brown being dumped and the horse treading on his chest. In an earlier race Brown sustained several lacerations when his mount "went bush" after the finish.
Brown reluctantly stood down from later rides stating: "This is the first time in my career I haven't completed a meeting."
