In the 24-hour period ending 7am yesterday the city had sipped 52.2 million litres of treated water.
Dubbo City Council reported the figure was 65.2 per cent of its plant's daily treatment capacity.
The highest water use for the past eight days, 57.4 million litres, was recorded on Friday.
The Central Western Daily reported on Monday that Dubbo residents had used four times more of the precious liquid than Orange residents last week.
Dubbo mayor Mathew Dickerson earlier defended the use, saying his city experienced hotter temperatures, and argued that just because one town was on water restrictions, did not mean that everyone had to follow suit.
