Alex Klaassens' care for his more-than-35 valued employees extends to a wish to keep them safe beyond the workplace.
He rushed a special offer of free taxi vouchers in a city where about 10 per cent of crashes were related to consumption of too many drinks.
The employer's commitment to the safety cause was a boost to Dubbo City Council as it promoted the Plan B Taxi Home campaign in the countdown to Christmas.
Council road safety officer Jayne Bleechmore visited Mr Klaassens' business to distribute the $10 taxi vouchers, integral to the joint initiative with Roads and Maritime Services (RMS).
The business owner of 18 years commended the initiative, which was supported by Dubbo Radio Cabs.
"Your responsibility doesn't stop at work - I consider the Christmas party a work function," Mr Klaassens said.
The majority of his employees are aged less than 30 years.
"They're a good bunch of guys, they're all very responsible," he said.
"Encouraging them to seek alternative travel arrangements when they're planning to have a drink is important to me.
"It is far smarter than running the risk of drink-driving."
Ms Bleechmore encouraged other Dubbo businesses to follow the lead of Mr Klaassens by registering their Christmas party online at www.dubbo.nsw.gov.au
A $500 rebate on Christmas party catering is also available to the business who submits the best road safety message during registration.
"The Plan B Taxi Home campaign aims to encourage partygoers to leave their cars at home this festive season and take a taxi instead," Ms Bleechmore said.
"If you plan to drink, plan not to drive."
The campaign runs until December 24 and vouchers will not be valid after that date.
Taxi vouchers are limited and the number of vouchers distributed will be capped each week to ensure a fair distribution.
