Nine players attended Thursday’s Three-ball Handicap competition, and once again the lower grades had some good wins over some of the fancied A-graders in the first round.

Most notable again was Glen Halbisch, who overcame one of this year’s A-grade finalists Michael Brady.
Not so unlucky was the other A-grade contender Rod Knee, who calmly slotted the winning balls against Allan Arnold, Trevor Hampson and Rhett Stockdale to make the top half finalist place.
Brian Tilston however, had a much harder run in, winning over Nathan Brown, Graham Miller, Mick Toomey and then Michael Russell for his place in the decider.
A close encounter for both in the major final before Tilston managed to get the run of the balls and slot home the winning ball.
Stockdale held sway over Russell in the minor final to take third place.
Secret Ball Competition
A great cross-section of players turned out for Friday’s fun competition, with 29 starters challenging for the prizes.
With a sprinkling of new players in the mix, it was always going to be an interesting evening, but two of the senior players managed to avoid the collisions and make their way through to the finals.
Barrie Davies defeated Will Hicks, Ian McGuinness, then Len Mohr in the semi-final to meet Syd Morris for the major prize, the latter steering past the efforts of Neville Barrett, Tom Lawson, Peter Noakes and Don Adams.
While Adams was the winner over Mohr in the minor semi-final, Syd Morris recorded yet another Friday night win to defeat Davies to take the majors.
As we go to press, only one semi-final will be contested to line up the Grades for our Championship Gala Finals night on Friday November 26 from 6pm.
Both B- and C-grades will see two fresh names on the Championship Board, as Jim Burrows lines up against Don Adams in C-grade, and Peter Castlehouse takes on Len Mohr in B Grade.
Two previous Club Champions contest this year’s A-grade final, with Rod Knee and Michael Brady resuming their fierce rivalry for the prestigious honour of 2010 Champion.
A great night at the tables is guaranteed for our last domestic competition of the year.
Members please note, the Secret Ball competition will not take place on November 25 due to the Club Championship Finals, but will resume the following Friday, December 3, at 7.30pm.
