The new Dubbo junior soccer season kicked-off last Saturday with SASS Strikers fielding 13 rooball and nine junior teams.

The sidelines were packed with supporters who were keen to encourage all players on their first outing for the season.
SASS 6 Aliens displayed a lot of potential against Newtown.
Once the boys got used to the rules the tempo of the game shifted and the Aliens staged an inspiring comeback. Harrison Davis was the standout performer and he scored a number of goals.
Liam Phillips was strong in attack and swept the ball well through the centre of the field. Rhett Masters was solid in defence and exhibited fine dribbling and ball control skills.
Damon O’Sullivan was the ‘everywhere man’, constantly running to the contest and defending well.
SASS 6 Galaxy had a fun match against Newtown White.
Both teams played well and SASS managed to score eight goals.
Scorers were Lachlan Levings, Max Martin and Mitchell Dunn.

SASS 7 Meteors were up against Rangers.
All players displayed significant improvement in their skills from last season.
Campbell Rose showed Pele-like passing skills in the air.
Sam Parish was nimble, demonstrating deft touch.
Zac Exner was everywhere and Harry O’Malley shined.
The boys were passionate in their play and were generous in their passing.

SASS 7 Stars got off to a flying start to the season against Wanderers Cyclone.
The new team format worked well.
There was some great passing from Connor Eisel and Thomas Isbester. Xavier Gauci was very solid in defence. There were some spectacular goals scored by Ben Cook, Connor Eisel, Luke Holcombe, Noah Gooch and Jack Kelly.
SASS 7 Galaxy played a very close and entertaining game against Narromine Bandits.
It was a fast flowing match with play going from end to end throughout.
For Galaxy Dominic Ambler scored two great goals and Jack Knaggs was also on target.
Man of the match was Tim Gould.

The girls from SASS 8 Meteors have four new recruits this season and all players fought well against Westside.
Mia Ryan attacked brilliantly scoring one goal and just missed another.
She was well supported in attack by Piper Leigh-Tripp and Emma Blake. Lauren Cook, Grace Gilroy and Evie Lane all had outstanding games.
SASS 8 Meteors took to the bigger field well in their match against Newtown.
Dylan Stevenson showed strength in defence with the help of Harris Langraf who displayed some fancy footwork.
The goalkeepers of Lachlan Steele and Patrick Saul were quiet as most of the play was up forward. Daniel Ramirez was busy in the midfield.
Will Stellmacher scored his first goal.
Other goal scorers were Alex Ford, Tyler Edwards and Patrick Saul.

SASS 10 Strikers started the year well with a fantastic game against Wanderers Pumas.
The game was played in great spirit and was a pleasure to watch.
SASS started the game a player short so lack of match fitness showed early in the game.
Jock Rice-Ward and Angus Peters were strong on the wings and Alex Langley was dangerous in the centre. Matt Bromage tried hard in goal and was well supported by the defenders.
The score was locked at 3-all until Pumas scored in the last minute off a corner.
The coach looks forward to the team developing as a cohesive unit as the season progresses.

SASS 13/14 Purple had a tough opening encounter against Wellington.
While the final score was 4-2 to Wellington with very little between the two sides.
Wellington is a strong attacking outfit and will exploit any defensive lapses.
SASS had a number of chances to score throughout the match.
In fact the ball found the net twice only to have the play ruled off-side.
The forwards and midfield will have to work on their striking at training.
The midfield of Nick Duffy, Sam Webster and Caleb Russell were outstanding.
Nicholas Chung was solid in defence.
