During the 5th Ashes Test match between Australia and England, the boys were part of the Dubbo Macquarie Anglican Grammar School teams that played Milo Cricket matches on the hallowed turf during the breaks in play.
The school was represented by boys and girls teams and this will undoubtedly be a lifetime memory for everyone who took part.
The Test was particularly noteworthy for Cayden McGrath who was there for another reason - to be part of Wednesday’s now traditional McGrath Foundation day.
Cayden’s father Craig is a cousin of former cricket great Glenn McGrath who helped form the McGrath Foundation following the death of his wife Jane who died from breast cancer.
On Wednesday the McGrath clan was there in force and their small but dedicated team alone raised more than $2500 from selling McGrath Foundation merchandise.
“It was a great day and all the kids especially enjoyed being part of it,” Cayden’s mother Tanya McGrath said.
“Craig and I and our children Cayden, Mikalee and Alli were there as was Glenn’s brother Dale and his wife Sandy and their children Ben, Jack and Katie from the farm out at Bourke.
“It also gave the children the chance to catch up with Glenn’s kids James and Holly and they all were involved in the selling of the McGrath Foundation bandanas.”
