The free ‘dive-in’ movie brought 600 people to the Dubbo Aquatic Centre, while the special farmers markets saw three times the usual fortnightly visitation, Dubbo City Council campaign specialist Lana Willetts said.
“We were very impressed by the numbers ... it shows people are keen and willing to participate in Dubbo activities,” she said.
Friday’s new residents evening at the Old Dubbo Gaol was attended by 40 newcomers, which included 15 Sydney University medical students.
“It was targeted at young professionals and really about making new residents feel connected and engaged, so that they stay in Dubbo,” Ms Willetts said.
The evening began with drinks and nibbles and was followed by a free twilight tour of the gaol.
“Lots of people took advantage of the numerous free events last week and plenty of businesses displayed their support too, which was great,” Ms Willetts said.
The festival concluded on Saturday night with the free Happy Feet viewing at Dubbo Aquatic Centre.
