When Dubbo apprentice electrician Jesse Rutherford was paralysed in an horrific motocross accident in May, it changed his and his loved ones’ lives forever.
Since the accident, Jesse has been at the Royal Rehabilitation Centre working hard towards taking some steps of his own after suffering spinal injuries when he was thrown over the handlebars of his motorcycle at 80km/h during a competition event - but he needs a little help.
Friends and family have organised a special fundraising night for this Saturday to help Jesse’s rehabilitation and get him back home sooner.
“When we saw the sadness in Wendy’s (Jesse’s grandmother’s) face we had to help,” one of the night’s organisers Shelly Carolan said.
Ms Carolan works with Jesse’s grandmother Wendy Goodlet and along with fellow work colleague Liz Walker, the three women have planned a “fun night where people can just enjoy themselves.”
There’ll be a live band, charity auction with all items donated by local businesses, and raffles throughout the evening of vouchers and more.
“The support from businesses has been pleasantly surprising,” Ms Goodlet said.
“I think not one business knocked me back when I approached them (for a donation).”
To attend, tickets are $15 each for entry from 6.30pm at the Macquarie Inn, with a gold coin donation for a sausage sizzle.
If you would like to donate an item for the auction to help Jesse get back on his feet it’s not too late - just call 0402 241 992 for more information.
