THE youngest winner of Australian Idol, Casey Donovan performed at Dubbo College Senior Campus yesterday to a crowd of year 11 students. Ms Donovan, an advocate for the National Centre of Indigenous Excellence, performed a few of her songs and gave a motivational and an inspirational talk to the students about her life. One of her original songs, entitled Big, Beautiful and Sexy, was performed with great pride and was a hit with the students. “I’m proud to be big, beautiful and sexy,” Ms Donovan said. “You can take it as you will, but that’s me,” she said. Grade five and six students from Buninyong Public School were also in attendance, and even did a performance of their own by shuffling and dancing in front of the stage. Ms Donovan was proud to be an ambassador of the Indigenous Excellence program. “It’s a great program, I got involved with them through a gym I go to, and it basically helps kids stay outdoors and to keep fit and healthy,” she said. “I’ve been involved since 2009, and I get such a thrill helping these kids out,” she said. Ms Donovan said she will be releasing some new music in 2012, but will in the meantime perform in the William Shakespeare play As You Like It in Sydney, as well as a Mama Cass tribute.
