Retail in Dubbo's central business district is set for a shot in the arm, with the new owners of the Video Ezy building, on the corner of Wingewarra and Macquarie streets, renovating for a national retailer new to Dubbo. The café in the building has closed, and Video Ezy has been relocated further up Macquarie Street. The Daily Liberal understands department store Harris Scarfe is moving into the renovated building. If so, it would be Harris Scarfe's only store in NSW. Video Ezy franchisee Carmel Morley said she was moving to the old Jules Crepes and Steaks building, opposite Eagle Boys. "It's a slightly smaller building, but they've knocked out walls, renovated it, done a total shop refit," Ms Morley said. Ms Morley said the building she was moving out of was sold to new owners about Christmas. "Owners have bought the entire building, and now they own everything from the newsagency near Centro down to the corner of Wingewarra and Macquarie," she said. Neville Brown's car repair business, housed in the back of the Video Ezy building, closed some months ago. Ms Morley said she would miss operating out of the "vibrant corner", and had started to sell off some stock to fit into the smaller building. "We have to move out by the end of August. It was a very vibrant corner and Video Ezy's been there for about 15 years," she said. Raine and Horne director Grahame Allan did not confirm Harris Scarfe was moving into the building. He said the newly renovated building would offer its new tenants about 1450 square metres of space. Last week Mr Allan revealed the modern look for another building planned for Macquarie Street, in the vacant lot next to the Daily Liberal. The open-plan building has no internal columns and can be used for either retail or a professional firm.
