Victoria's Monash University has been ranked number one in the world for pharmacy and pharmacology studies.
The QS World University Rankings saw the university ranked ahead of renowned institutions, including the University of Oxford, Harvard University and the University of Cambridge.
It is the first time an Australian university has ranked first in this discipline.
"When students from around the world are looking for the best place to study pharmacy and pharmacology, these rankings show that they'll find it right here in Melbourne," Treasurer Tim Pallas said.
The faculty has become renowned for its high-profile research through the Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and helped develop Australia's first mRNA vaccine candidate for COVID-19 last year.
The QS World University Rankings assess the performance of more than 1300 universities worldwide.
