Ryan was recently appointed the NSW under 19s coach while he was also part of a bumper pre-season training at the NSWRL Centre of Excellence that involved the Future Blues, NSW women's side, and the women's under 19s squad.
While the role for 2022 is a new one for Ryan he is an experienced coach, having previously worked alongside NSW Country coach Craig Fitzgibbon while he was also involved with NSW under 16s players in the Blues pathways system.
"In the pathways teams I did a couple of years ago we had guys like Stephen Crichton, Matt Burton and Spencer Leniu playing for us. It's amazing how quickly it can happen for these guys," Ryan told NSWRL.com.

Like Ryan, Burton came through the ranks at St John's and Dubbo CYMS and developed into a NRL premiership winner.
Burton has been tipped for Origin football in the future and Ryan will help mould more of the next generation in the next year's under 19s series.
He'll put his own imprint on the team but the former Kangaroo added working with so many others who have experienced the Origin arena during his time in the game will also influence his methods.
"I suppose you adapt your coaching according to the style the players have," Ryan said.
"We only get the guys for a short time so it's all about playing for each other and playing for that NSW jersey.
"Fortunately, I was lucky to have some good coaches during my playing days so it's all about getting as tight as we can, as quick as we can.
"When you don't get many sessions with them there's no point in over-complicating things. They get selected in the under 19s because they are the best going around in that age group."
