Planning is under way for the first Central West Local Land Services Big Tech Big Ideas conference scheduled in February.
The event will showcase the latest in ag tech in the cropping and livestock space.
As well as the conference which at the Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre, there will be a field visit to Trangie Agricultural Research Centre.
The field day and conference will include presentations on the latest in green-on-green spraying, drones and weed mapping as well as integrating telemetry and weather stations in broadacre cropping.
ALSO MAKING NEWS:
Mixed farm adviser Rohan Leach is overseeing the livestock component of the ag technology exhibits.
"Producers will be able to see demonstrations of walk-over-weighing systems and mechanical sheep handling technology at the field day," Mr Leach said.
"On the conference side of the event we are locking in some great presenters and panelists including Mark Mortimer from CentrePlus Merinos speaking on herd management and genetics in his merino stud and how electronic ID tags have revolutionized his business."
Cropping Officer Tim Bartimote is helping to organize the cropping component of the event and said he hoped it would help local producers understand how ag tech could be potentially used on farm.
"Weed control will be an important part of our paddock demonstrations," Mr Bartimote said.
"We have some interesting updates on how machine learning and practical know-how can join forces to reduce chemical costs in growing crops."
Big Tech Big Idea will be held on February 8 and 9.
