NSW Blues coach Brad Fittler met with Mid-Western Regional Council candidate Des Kennedy and council's general manager Brad Cam on Tuesday morning to discuss the opportunity.
Additional land purchased for the purpose of a training camp on the opposing side of Lawson Creek has attracted the attention of the rugby league great.
"Council bought extra land to be able to build a 42 room training camp with facilities like a gym, lecture theatres, and outdoor and living areas," Cam said.
"We've consulted with elite athletes to make sure we are catering for men and women.
"The plan and design are getting DA approval as we speak."

However, the priority for Fittler is ensuring his "$50 million worth of talent" has access to facilities they are accustomed to, and explained that "you can't take them away from something they're used to and give them any less".
"I'm not going to take a State of Origin team somewhere that hasn't got the professional facilities. The thing is, you need to be able to facilitate what the players are used to," he said.
"There's a big push to get NRL games out to the bush to give communities like Mudgee something to look forward to, and you can see here at Glen Willow that these things can be facilitated.
"Given what it [training camp] looks like on paper at the moment, I look forward to seeing the finished product."
Council's proposed training camp is anticipated to commence taking shape early next year.
Fittler was in Mudgee after enjoying another skills session with kids at Gulgong on Monday afternoon.
Fittler has been riding around regional areas with NSW Sky Blues coach Kylie Hilder, and NSWRL Officiating Development Co-ordinator and former NRL referee Gavin Badger to promote 2022 Junior Rugby League registrations.
The seven-day tour has taken in 24 towns, seven football clinics, two referees clinics and more than 3000 kilometres.
Football clinics have already been held at Sanctuary Point, Bombala, Wagga Wagga, Griffith, Gulgong, and Kurri Kurri with the final clinic to be held at Campbelltown on Wednesday.
