Ms Jones will run in Wellington ward as an independent candidate for the local government elections on Saturday.
Ms Jones believes one of the big reasons for her running for council again was to regain the public's trust after a difficult six month period.
"I think the most important thing for me is that this current council those that are standing again need to work with the new elected councillors to regain the confidence, the trust and respect of our community," she said.
"I think that's really, really important after the turmoil in the last six to nine months."
Ms Jones is the former mayor of the Wellington shire. She joined Dubbo council after the amalgamation back in 2016 and has been a councillor ever since.
Ms Jones believes she still can offer to lot to the people within the Dubbo local government area with the bulk of the current group of candidates unexperienced at being on council.

"Look I think in the time I have been on council I've learnt there's always more to do," she said.
"There's always different expectations from the community and I'm very passionate about local government.
"From my perspective, it's really important that whoever is elected that we make sure that we at least have experience in council."
While the majority of council candidates have never been on council, Ms Jones believes it would be ideal for some of those with experience to come on board to help guide the first-timers.
"If we had 10 brand new councillors who hadn't previously been in local government I think it would be difficult for them," she said.
"Unless they had some mentors that could help them through the process.
"Because local government is totally different to normal business.
"Dubbo Regional Council local government is the biggest enterprise and business within our region."
Saturday's election could very well be the last with the current ward system as a referendum has been put forward with the public to decide on the future of the system.
Voters will hit the polls on this Saturday to make their choice.
