After a 30-year career with NSW Health as a registered nurse and clinical educator, Ms Mooney is now set to become her own boss as franchisee of the new Price Attack store in Dubbo.

"It is just a dream come true," she said

Ms Mooney grew up in Cowra, and later lived in Blayney before starting her nursing career in Orange. She moved to Dubbo in 2017 to further her nursing career.

However this wasn't the first time she thought about moving to the town. In 2005 she spent six months in Dubbo on secondment living in nursing quarters.

"I don't know what it is, but I love Dubbo. When I was there for those six months I straight away thought, 'gosh I could live here'," she said.

"The people are really friendly, I love the weather and the relaxed mood of everyone here ...it was just a natural fit."

As part of her work as a clinical nurse educator, her role included improving the practice of other nurses in mental health.

She said taking on the business was an important element of care for people in the region.

"People do joke that the hairdresser is also a good counsellor, so we are planning to create a friendly and welcoming oasis for our customers and clients," she said.

"I love going to the hairdresser and how good you feel after a visit, even when you treat yourself to a lovely new product to use at home, it is such a great pick-me-up."

Price Attack is set to open its doors in Dubbo Square just in time for Christmas opening on December 17.

The store will boast a retail and salon experience, with Ms Mooney set to employ experienced hairdressers, and has plans to train apprentices as the business develops.

"It's a very exciting time and I have so much to learn about all the products. Dubbo residents will have access to products previously unavailable in town - so they will be able to have that city salon experience here at home," she said.

Showing a confidence in bricks and mortar stores, Price Attack Salons Australia announced its interest in Dubbo as a "key location" in August last year.
