Getting them in mint condition for the season ahead can be as simple as indulging in a pedicure - DIY if you want to save money, or perhaps at a salon if you'd prefer to have the job done by a professional and support a small business that might have done it tough this year.
Then there's the issue of keeping your feet looking great all summer long while they're exposed to the world.
As many people can attest to firsthand, feet (especially our heels) can dry out in summer, predominantly because we're not wearing socks to protect them.
Using a pumice stone on the heels and balls of your feet (up to three times a week) can help remove dry or dead skin, and keeping them moisturised is the best way to avoid them reverting to an unsightly state again.
This can be done in several ways, such as lathering your feet in a specially designed foot cream (they're usually thicker than those created for the face or body) at night time and slipping on a pair of cotton socks before you hop into bed.
This locks in the moisture for hours, allowing your feet to slowly absorb the cream so you wake up with silky smooth skin.
Check out Australian skincare brands such as DU'IT for products that target these specific areas. The company's Foot & Heel Balm Plus is helpful for severe and stubborn cases of dry, rough, cracked feet, and they also have a Roll-On Heel Balm that's suitable for everyday maintenance and quickly absorbs without the need to use your hands (no mess, no fuss).
The other important tip is to stay hydrated. Drinking plenty of water in summer will help to minimise foot swelling and help keep your feet looking their most beautiful.
