Previously held earlier in the year, the 2021 edition of Ladies Day - where women will have free entry - will be held on Sunday and a strong initial 144 nominations were released on Tuesday.

As has been the case almost regularly for Dubbo racing, trainers from the local area, further around the western region, and other major country and city stables are among the nominations.

Warwick Farm Group 1 winner Bjorn Baker put forward Keith for the Class 1 Handicap (1100m) while Wyong trainers Tim McIntosh and Stephen Farley are also in the mix.

Elsewhere, five last-start winners were among 14 nominations for the Benchmark 58 Handicap (1600m).

Aisle Six, trained at Muswellbrook by Krissie Simpkins, has scored back-to-back wins at Warren and Mudgee in his past two starts, while Polished Penny won at Dubbo on Derby Day for Mark Milton, Connie Greig's Malibu Stacy was a Melbourne Cup Day winner last Tuesday, while David Smith's The Scotsman and the Brett Thompson-trained Winter Moon won last time out at Mudgee and Warren respectively.

Sunday's meeting also offers Dubbo Turf Club the chance to build on the well-attended Derby Day and Melbourne Cup Day meetings recently.

"That was an outstanding success," Turf Club general manager Vince Gordon said of the two meetings.

"It wasn't the biggest crowds we've had, because of COVID, but from our perspective we were very happy with it."

Final fields for Sunday's meeting are released on Thursday.
