The Dubbo District Cricket Association (DDCA) season starts on Saturday, with six teams contesting first grade and a combined 21 in the RSL-Pinnington Cup and RSL-Kelly Cup second and third grade.
Just a few months ago there was concern around player numbers this season and what impact the COVID pandemic could have on summer sport, but DDCA president Ben Semmler said the feeling is everyone just wants to get out and play again.
It won't just be the ovals around Dubbo which will be busy on Saturday when the new season begins, with Narromine entering the competition this season.

Narromine will field teams in the RSL-Pinnington Cup and RSL-Kelly Cup this season while both Newtown and South Dubbo will field two second grade sides.
In third grade, Newtown will again field three sides while each of CYMS, Colts, and Macquarie will have two teams each.
"We're very excited about this year," Semmler said.
"We've got nine second grade teams this season and now Narromine is involved as well.
"There's 12 teams in third grade, which is unbelievable considering the start to the season we've had."
The pandemic resulted in a disrupted pre-season for all clubs and the start of the DDCA competition being delayed by four weeks.
Both the RSL-Pinnington Cup and RSL-Kelly Cup will feature 16 round regular seasons in 2021/22.
"I think everyone is just keen to play cricket and come October 30 everyone will want to get out and have a game."
All second and third grade matches on Saturday are 40-over contests and start at 1pm.
First grade matches will be Twenty20s.
