"They come in and can do a theory component that goes for three hours where they learn all about the safety aspects of driving and the vehicles," she said.
"Then they do a two hour drive of a vehicle with an instructor in town."
As schools have now re-opened around the region, now could be the perfect time to for learner drivers to add to their knowledge.
"It absolutely is," Ms Ross said.
"Especially in regional NSW, we don't have the access to the same public transport that we would in metro [areas].
"Being able to have a license and transport yourself that independency I think that's really important."
Member for Dubbo Dugald Saunders feels some of the valuable skills taught are taken for granted by experienced drivers.
"These courses are about safety but also some practical skills," he said.
"Like things to check your car for before you get in the car before you drive. You also learn the difference between wet driving and dry driving."
The cost of the course has been cut from $140 down to $40 for anyone who books this year.
Those interested in the course can book via PCYC Dubbo's website or can go into the club in person.
