This is now a great opportunity for us all to be supporting our local small businesses who have been doing it tough during lockdown. Our cafes, hairdressers, pubs and retail shops need our support more than ever to bounce back and thrive.
That's why our government has unveiled a $200 million Regional Recovery package, including a new $50 million Regional Events Package.
That includes $25 million for councils and $5 million dedicated to country shows to help our towns reconnect and celebrate being together again.
There's also some long term investment with $40 million to be targeted at infrastructure projects, plus an extra $30 million for the Regional Job Creation Fund, the fund which has already leveraged $18 million in private investment to create 880 full-time equivalent jobs. This won't just help our region recover - it'll set us up for the next generation!
