The four-year-old black and tan kelpie was taken from outside the IGA Supermarket on Tamworth Street, about 5.30pm on Sunday.
Following police investigations, Jock was found safe and returned to his owner.
Orana Mid-Western Police District Commander, Superintendent Danny Sullivan said its believed Jock was picked up by another resident and taken home after they thought he had been abandoned and neglected.

"We're satisfied through our investigation that the person who took Jock didn't have criminal intentions and as a consequence we don't intend to lay any charges," he said.
"We're just happy Jock has been reunited with its loving owner."
Supt Sullivan thanked the community for their support during their investigation.
"In less than two hours we had over 8000 members of our community get behind this matter and provide support to this investigation," he said.
"You can only be heartened by this level of support that when police and community work together we can get great results like this."
