Hughes was named in the Sixers' side for the clash with the Melbourne Stars but didn't get the chance to bowl in the rain-affected match.
A heavy downpour resulted in the match being reduced to just 11 overs, meaning Sixers captain Ellyse Perry had to make some big choices as her side bowled first.
Things didn't go exactly to plan for the Sixers, as Elyse Villani's unbeaten half century led the Stars to 1-99.

Villani's knock came off just 31 balls but her innings was outdone by Sixers' opener and Australian star Healy.
The keeper-batter pummelled 57 from 27 balls to help the Sixers reach the target with minimal fuss.
Healy's knock included 11 boundaries and while she was unable to finish not out, she was bowled by Sophie Day with 11 runs to win, her team went on to win by six wickets with four balls top spare.
"I was just looking forward to coming into the Big Bash and playing with freedom, enjoying myself and hopefully playing some good cricket," Healy said after being named Player of the Match.
"It's nice to get back out here. I love playing in the WBBL, especially for the Sixers, so it was nice to get out and get a relatively clean game in."
Healy was the only Sixers batter to make double figures.
While Hughes didn't get the chance to impact the match, selection in the Sixers XI was reward after a busy pre-season.
The Macquarie junior spoke this week about the huge amount of time she put into all aspects of her game to give herself the best chance of earning more time on the field with the Sixers. Thursday night was her third appearance in WBBL after two games last season.
The Sixers are next in action against the Hobart Hurricanes on Sunday afternoon.
