According to police, the messages indicated McLeod had been to her home.
"I see there no smoke will I just finish my beer (beer emoji) and I'm coming ok mother f---ker to smash something ok dog (dog emoji) you will see," one message from McLeod to the woman read.
"... I'm coming to smash everything up ok you blam me you will see slut. [sic].
"I'll kill you c--t fuck you."
A short time later, the woman returned home and noticed that the driver's side mirror on her car had been damaged and completely broken.
Based on the previous messages, the woman believed McLeod was responsible and attended the Gilgandra Police Station to report the matter.
Four days later, when McLeod attended the police station to report for bail, he was placed under arrest.
Appearing via audio-visual link from Bathurst Correctional Centre, McLeod pleaded guilty to stalk and intimidate intending physical harm, and destroying property in Dubbo Local Court.
Defence lawyer Bill Dickens tended images of the full text exchange between the two to put the messages in context, and how the incident occurred and the nature of messages between McLeod and the woman.
Mr Dickens said while he agreed McLeod's criminal history didn't assist him, his client was subject to "very difficult custodial conditions", particularity from the onset of the COVID-19 outbreak.
Magistrate Theresa Hamilton said while she agreed the exchanges between the two was "just abuse, arguing back and forth", the threats to kill were of the more serious nature.
"It's quite clear the victim has no problem with answering back or telling him where to go," she said.
Due to his criminal history, and previous like offending, Magistrate Hamilton convicted and sentenced him to jail for four months.
