The platform, Streaming Sets, is being launched by Dubbo Regional Council in partnership with Songwriters and Original Musicians Association Dubbo (SOMAD) and provides musicians with the opportunity to land a virtual, paying gig.
Dubbo Regional Council events and partnerships team leader Lana Willetts said while everyone is in lockdown and isolating they wanted to not only engage with the people stuck at home, but also provide a platform for local musicians who have lost a lot of work as a result of lockdown.

"The Streaming Sets are being supported by Dubbo Regional Council's SPARC Cultural Development Plan, Regional Events branch, and SOMAD," she said.
"Successful performers will receive $120 for their 15-20 minute performance.
"This is proudly delivered as a key objective of Dubbo Regional Council's SPARC Cultural Development Plan to support more local artists and paying them appropriately for their time.
Folks that are at home looking for fresh entertainment options can tune in and discover what our local music scene has to offer...

"Expressions of interest are invited from local artists to participate. All artists must be a resident of the Dubbo Regional Council LGA and have the ability to create a 15-20 minutes of a video performance.
"The artists can choose to perform original songs or perform covers. Up to 12 artists will be chosen to participate."
Streaming Sets will run every Friday night commencing September 24 and will go for four weeks.
"The original sets are being produced by SOMAD, and cover artists will perform live via their social media channels," Ms Willetts said.
"We hope the community gets behind this initiative and supports our local musicians who have been doing it pretty tough over the last few months."
Songwriters and Original Musicians Association Dubbo's Fred Randell said it is an excellent initiative.
"[It] not only provides a gigging opportunity to our local musicians who have been unable to perform to an audience during lockdown, but [it is] also a chance for them to reach new listeners via council's online channels and promotional support," Mr Randell said.
"Folks that are at home looking for fresh entertainment options can tune in and discover what our local music scene has to offer.'
