A woman in her mid 70s who died in Dubbo overnight has become the second person to die from COVID-19 at the Holy Spirit aged care facility.

Dubbo MP Dugald Saunders expressed his sympathy towards the family and friends of the woman who he said was fully vaccinated, but had underlying health conditions. This the six death linked to outbreaks in Dubbo's aged care facilities.
There have now been eight deaths recorded in the Western NSW Local Health District.

"This is just a reminder of what we're dealing with here," Mr Saunders said.
Across the Western NSW LHD there have been another eight cases recorded in the 24 hours to 8pm on Saturday night.
Four were recorded in Dubbo, two in Wellington and two in Walgett. There are 16 patients being treated in hospital, three are in intensive care and being ventilated across the region.
Mr Saunders said around 300 people were being looked after in in the COVID care in the community program. However 36 patients had been discharged overnight, bringing the total of people recovered from COVID to above 700.
Testing has increased across the health district with 3087 COVID tests undertaken, about 1700 in Dubbo. Mr Saunders said this could be credited to the introduction of surveillance testing.
"It means anyone who gets a test does not have to isolate while waiting for results, unless they have symptoms or are a close or casual contact," he said.
NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian also announced that public pools would open across NSW from Monday, September 27, the second week of the school holidays.
More details will be released in the days ahead.
"I think plenty of people are looking forward to the ability to be training and swimming as we make our way into the warmer months," Mr Saunders said.
