Work to install new road surface on the eastern leg of the intersection will be carried out 24-hours a day and is expected to be complete in four days.
A temporary road closure on the eastern side of the Mitchell Highway will be in place, as well as restricted southbound right-turn movements from the Mitchell to the Newell Highway, and restricted westbound right-turn movements from the Newell to the Mitchell Highway.
Access to the L.H. Ford Bridge from the Mitchell Highway and Macquarie Street intersection will be closed.
Detour arrangements for the eastern side of the L.H. Ford Bridge will be via the Newell Highway and Darling Street, and the same detour will be in place for westbound traffic movements. There will be no access to the Mitchell Highway from Beni Street.
Emergency services will have access to the L.H. Ford Bridge to access the boat ramp next to Lion's Park, and access will be maintained for local businesses along the western leg of the Mitchell Highway.
Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions, allow extra travel time and follow the direction of traffic control and all signs.
