Track down your ancestors
Ancestry Library edition contains billions of records from around the world, including: census and electoral roll records; immigration and shipping records; and birth, death and marriage indexes.
But wait, there's more. Ancestry Library edition also has a number of picture collections, including a collection of photographs from the construction of the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
You can even download and save copies of records to your home computer. All are searchable for free through our 24/7 online library. Just head to: www.mrl.nsw.gov.au, login to your library account and follow the links to Ancestry Library edition.
Research tips with Libby
Keen to pick up some extra tips on starting your family history? Or perhaps you're after some ideas on what to do with old family photos.
The library's Libby app can help you with that. Simply type 'family history' into the search field to discover a couple of great titles as well as issues of family history magazines. Here's a couple of titles to get you started:

Need a break from research? Check out an edition of Traces magazine on our Libby app. Traces is an Australian based magazine that covers all things history, heritage and genealogy. Discover all 15 available editions at: mrl.nsw.gov.au/online-library/emagazines. Or perhaps you'd rather watch a film? There is a variety of history documentaries, movies and TV series available to watch on Kanopy. You can add these to a watchlist in Kanopy once you have logged in using your MRL library card number and PIN.
Trove newspapers
Did you know that the National Library of Australia's Trove website provides free online access to historical newspapers? A wide variety of local, state and national newspaper titles are available online, all day every day. At https://trove.nla.gov.au you can browse through editions of Dubbo's Daily Liberal and Macquarie Advocate dating from 1894 to 1954 and check out the headlines of the day.
