"Mental health has always been a big issue, but now, due to the pandemic, it seems it's an important topic in every home across the country," Black Dog Institute mullet manager Phoebe Collins said.
"Sporting a mullet this September is a cheeky shortcut to big conversations, a nod to your fellow Australian that you're not afraid to lend a supportive ear during times of need."
Last year the campaign raised $3 million. The money is used to fund Black Dog Institute's research, education programs, digital tools and clinical services.
