He'd endured something of a brief dry spell but Anthony Cavallo returned to the winner's circle in spurring fashion at Bathurst's Tyers Park on Monday.

At a wet and cold Bathurst track, Cavallo piloted $51 outsider Ideel Girl to a strong all-the-way victory in the Pearce Furnitrue and Bedding Lithgow Maiden Plate (1400m).
It was a welcome return to winning ways for Cavallo, who had missed out on victory in meetings at Gilgandra, Narromine, Parkes, Muswellbrook, Dubbo, and Scone this month.
While the market might not have pointed to the Richard Litt-trained Ideel Girl winning on Monday she was fully deserving of the result.

The three-year-old filly, who had run sixth and then tenth in the first two starts of her career, flew out of gate eight and quickly took the lead.
She never surrendered the front as Cavallo discovered what could be the best way to ride the Dundeel X Sozzinin filly.
"It did the trick," Cavallo said of setting the pace to Sky Thoroughbred Central.
"The instructions were just to let her travel somewhere and let her relax but she pinged the lids so well, I looked across and everyone had the brakes on so it was a stroll to the lead.
"She went to sleep then kicked when I wanted her to so it was a really good win."
Ideel Girl had a handy lead as they approached the turn for home and that was when Cavallo asked her to go to another gear.
She responded well and that proved to be where the race was run as she ran home to win by one-and-a-half lengths from The Dance ($5) and Wolf Warrior ($5).
"I'm one of those who don't like to count their chickens before they hatch but it gave me a really good feeling and I thought it would take a half-a-decent one to chase me down," Cavallo said.
The $2 favourite, the Bjorn Baker-trained Surreel, could only manage fourth while Dubbo hope Sensei Jackie finished at the back of the field.
Dar Lunn's Sensei Jackie had looked promising heading to Bathurst but faded to finish well back.
The meeting was another good one for Sydney trainers as the first four races of the day were won by those based at Warwick Farm.
As well as Litt, Baker, Ciaron Maher and David Eustace, and Con Karakatanis all scored wins.
Dubbo trainer Connie Greig's Inzaghi was third in the day's fourth race.
