The Dubbo product has offers in front of him for the 2022 season.
The Newcastle Knights have reportedly offered the utility a three-year-deal to re-sign with the club but he has been given permission to negotiate with other clubs.
I've kept in contact with Connor for the last four years since he's been away.
- Trent Robinson
One of the clubs looking into the possibility of signing Watson is the Roosters, the club the now 25-year-old made his debut with in 2016.
Trent Robinson, the coach who gave Watson his first chance in the NRL, remains at the Roosters and is still close with the son of former Group 11 enforcer Mark 'Wacky' Watson.
Robinson confirmed earlier this week his club was looking into the possibility of bringing Watson back to Bondi.
"There's been discussions with Connor but that's as far as I'll say," Robinson said.
"I've known him and known him as a player.
"I've talked to him but I've also tried to help him as well in other places because I've known him as well.
"We talked about two things - whether there was an opening at the Roosters but then also what are the best options for him.
"I've kept in contact with Connor for the last four years since he's been away. And I'm always there for him and other players if they need advice as well."
In the short-term, Watson is set for a milestone moment on Sunday.
He has been named to start at lock in his 100th career match but Knights coach Adam O'Brien has done that before, only to bring Watson off the bench instead on game day.
Newcastle takes on the Cronulla Sharks from 4pm on Sunday. The sides are ninth and 10th respectively on the ladder.
