The 2021 Dubbo Showgirl has signed up for Guide Dogs Australia fundraiser Pawgust.
Each day this month she is walking 60 minutes a day with her two beloved pets.
Eight days into the endeavour, Miss Hutchinson was already well on the way to achieving her $1500 fundraising target.
"It's going well, I've raised just a bit over $1000, so I'm really grateful for all of the support I've received with doing Pawgust so far," she said.
Guide Dogs Australia reports it costs more than $50,000 to breed, raise and train just one guide dog.
Dog lover and Dubbo and District Kennel Club treasurer Miss Hutchinson is happy to contribute to the cause.
"Ever since I was little I've loved Guide Dogs Australia," she said.
"So growing up I wanted to be a Guide Dogs trainer.
"Didn't end up following that path, but I've always had a lot of respect for the amazing work that Guide Dogs do, to help the blind and vision impaired communities."
A friend from Brisbane and the Gulgong Show Society president also came on board, signing up to Miss Hutchinson's team.
Marnie and Remi are big fans of Pawgust.
"Marnie's two and a half years old, she's my border collie," Miss Hutchinson said.
"Remi, my Irish setter is 11 months.
"They're great company and I love having them and it's a good way to give them some enrichment in life when we can't go away travelling due to COVID.
"We have the tantrum each morning when one dog gets to go out and it's not the other dog's turn, so they're both very excited."
The graduate of Dubbo College Senior Campus is studying a Bachelor of Accounting majoring in international business and culture at Charles Sturt University.
"It keeps me busy, but if it makes the dogs happy I'm always happy to do something extra," she said.
Miss Hutchinson was named 2021 Dubbo Showgirl in May, and said the months since had been amazing.
"I've been so grateful for all the support I've received, not just from the show society, but from other show societies around our region," she said.
"...it's been amazing and I'm loving it.
"I really do encourage any girls to get in, have a go."
The annual Pawgust fundraiser started in 2018 and Miss Hutchinson is one of 11,392 participants this year, and they have collectively raised more than $1 million.
