Daniel Charles Shultz, 38, was driving a white Nissan ute along River Street when he was stopped by police for random testing.

Despite returning a negative alcohol test, Shultz was subjected to a secondary oral fluid test which came back positive to detection of amphetamine.

Representing himself in Dubbo Local Court on Wednesday, Shultz pleaded guilty to driving with an illicit drug present in his blood.

Shultz said he had "nothing to say" as to why he was driving while under the influence of drugs for a third time, but said it was going to be hard if he lost his licence.

The court heard he had been employed as a courier and did day trips to Brewarrina and Nyngan to deliver COVID vaccines.

"I wasn't employed the last two other times either, this time I've got myself a job," he said.

"I got a day run to Nyngan, and run COVID vaccines out to Brewarrina and Nyngan.

"If I lose that I'm in all sorts of trouble."

Magistrate Gary Wilson said his hands were tied as it was his third time for before the court for the same offence.

"You're going to have to stop doing what you're doing," he said.

Shultz was disqualified from driving for six months.
