It was a relatively quiet day at Hans Claven Oval for Spurs goalkeeper Bailey Delaney, who knows his side is riding a wave of momentum right now.

"It's real good," he said.

"The boys are all happy to play and it's a fun sort of thing.

"We are playing more fun than serious now which you can see when you actually play. Blokes aren't getting angry at each other.

"If you get too serious it takes all the joy out of it."

Spurs definitely had fun during their win on the weekend with Justin Gibson scoring a double while Joel Tongue, Duncan Cahill and Jake Ferguson all scored goals of their own.

Spurs now sit in the top spot on the ladder after Orange Waratahs suffered a surprise loss at Parkes and Delaney admitted his was not expecting to be doing so well this season after missing finals last year.

"It's good, we didn't expect it at the start of the season," he said.

"It's really exciting."

Standing in goal all season, Delaney has had the best seat in the house to watch Spurs' attacking brilliance and he admitted it was been nice to almost be a spectator at times on the weekend.

"Not having to do a whole lot makes it better for me," he said.

"It's real good, you couldn't have asked for more.

"We were shocking in the first half but came out in the second [half] and actually had a bit of a go."

Some believed Spurs would scrape into the finals at best this season but the side has exceeded their expectations with their attacking brand of football.

They also boast a mixture of experienced and youthful talent including the likes of Cahill and Bailey McCabe.

Delaney knows this mixture of experience has helped the side perform well this season.

"We have a couple of fellas that are older," he said.

"Gibbo [Justin Gibson] is a bit older and Jared Corby who has been around forever but we have a good mixture.

"The young fellas do all the running and the older fellas direct them."

Spurs can wrap up the minor premiership next weekend if they defeat Parkes and the Dubbo Bulls manage to beat Waratahs in Orange.
