The year has certainly taken a turn, but I am incredibly proud of the resilience shown by Charles Sturt University staff and students here at Dubbo campus.

The university has undertaken a number of measures to ensure our staff and students are safe and comfortable.
Staff required for face-face-teaching or student support have returned to campus, along with students with scheduled face-to-face classes.

Both staff and students must check-in using the QR code before they enter the campus and masks are mandatory in all indoor non-residential settings on our campuses.
We do hope that restrictions will ease in the coming weeks, but I am confident to say that we're are continuing to deliver the highest quality education to our students.
Unfortunately, we have had to modify the planned Open Days across all our campuses.
We will now be holding a virtual Open Day on Sunday, 15 August 2021.
To register for the Charles Sturt Virtual Open Day, visit the Open Day page.
Modified tour and experience days, including faculty/general and residential tours, student clubs and food trucks, will be held on each campus in early September.
Organisers are working with key stakeholders to ensure the September on-campus events will be held in accordance to the current COVID-19 rules and regulations, including wearing a mask for all attendees.
Attendees will need to follow the COVID-19 measures in place and are being encouraged to book ahead as session places are limited.
We recently re-opened our campus art space for exhibitions, the current exhibition is called Teach.
The Teach exhibition is curated by local art teacher Vicki Aland and features a wide range of media including oil painting, watercolour, drawing, photography and printmaking.
We are proud to support our local artists by providing this space, and in this instance celebrate the talents of regional teachers.
The Teach exhibition in Building 901 at Charles Sturt in Dubbo is open to the public until Monday 23 August during business hours.
We are taking expressions of interest for exhibits from September to December, please register your interest by emailing engagedubbo@csu.edu.au.
Round two applications have opened for the Charles Sturt University Advantage program, this program is a pathway into university before Year 12 students take their final exams.
The program preferences personal attributes such as communication, empathy, resilience and motivation to determine their success as a student and in the workforce
Round one of the program received a great response from Year 12 students and their schools, with almost 1,500 offers made from nearly 2,000 applications.
Round two applications close Tuesday 31 August, with offers expected to be made in late September.
Lastly, we have recently held workshops with a number of our partners and community stakeholders to develop the 10-year vision for the Dubbo campus.
These workshops were led by myself and members of the Charles Sturt senior leadership team, I look forward to sharing a framework of this vision in the coming months.
We are all definitely feeling the brunt of the current COVID-19 outbreak in Sydney. It's a difficult time for everyone, but I know as strong regional hub we can be strong and keep as safe as possible.
