Duncan Cahill doesn't know how the nickname started and it's a little unsure how to feel about it but the "Mullet Messi" moniker has stuck during the 2021 Western Premier League season.

Cahill has been a huge part of Orana Spurs' resurgence this season in his return to football in Dubbo and his performances certainly haven't gone unnoticed.
With his quick feet, playmaking ability, and locks flowing as he races around the field it was pretty easy for his teammates to start comparing him to the Barcelona and Argentina legend, Lionel Messi.
"No comment," Cahill laughed at first when asked about the comparison.
"I don't know how it came about. All of a sudden everyone was calling me Mullet Messi.
"I don't know if it's something to be proud of or not."

One thing Cahill does know is the belief and confidence within his side is at a real high point.
Spurs sits third on the ladder but put the competition on notice last weekend when they downed the previously unbeaten Orange Waratahs 4-2.
The next challenge is a massive derby clash with the second-placed Dubbo Bulls at Apex Oval on Saturday evening.
The battle between the two sets of midfielders alone is enough reason to attend, with the likes of Cahill and Jake Grady taking on Bulls trio Kobe Rapley, Thomas Busch, and Kane Settree.
"I think it will be about taking over midfield and not allowing them to get on the ball too much," Cahill said of the key to the game.
Bulls head into the match after a surprise 4-4 draw with bottom side Mudgee last weekend and they sit two points behind Waratahs and just two ahead of Spurs.
While Spurs' draw may have seemed daunting to some, Cahill has taken delight in being able to test himself against the best of the competition and there was an extra reason to enjoy last weekend's win.
"I love it. It was so enjoyable last week, especially because I got my first goal of the season as well. That adds to it and beating a team that had been undefeated is a big thing," he said.
"Everyone is starting to believe. Especially after taking out the top team.
"That adds to it and it's just whoever turns up on the day. I think every team has got a chance to win it."
A title win would be a massive achievement for Spurs given they struggled in the WPL last season and claimed just two wins but it would be particularly special for Cahill.
After attending boarding school, Cahill didn't play last season and this campaign with Spurs will be his only one as he's set to move away for university next year.
Making the most of his time with a team he's enjoyed being a part of is a big goal in the coming weeks.
"I want to make this season the right one and taking it the whole way would be good. We could finish on a high," he said.
Jordan Bailey will miss Saturday's match through injury in the only change for Spurs.
Kick-off is 5pm at Apex Oval.
