The steps taken are in addition to the requirements under the current public health order, which states they must abide by the stay-at-home orders, only going to work and to collect food and other essential items.
NSW Deputy Premier John Barilaro urged against travelling to regional areas unless absolutely necessary, but stopped short of saying movement should be stopped entirely.
"My message is, if you don't have to go to the regions, don't," he said at Wednesday's Covid-19 update, adding, "Right now, we've got sufficient orders in place," when asked about construction workers travelling to the regions.

Two major road works in Dubbo are the upgrade of the Fitzroy and Cobra streets intersection, and the Newell and Mitchell highways intersection.
Transport for NSW Director West, Alistair Lunn assured that work is operating within NSW Health guidelines.
"Careful planning and strict Covid-safe rules are in place for any workers or delivery drivers from Greater Sydney," Mr Lunn said.
"The current team have all been based in Dubbo for more than two weeks and have minimal interaction with the community and are required to stay in Dubbo until the project has been completed."
Member for Dubbo, Dugald Saunders said targeted lockdowns, such as the Orange, Blayney, Cabonne LGAs, were needed, rather than a widescale Central West lockdown, and were better for the economy.
"If you don't need to come, we don't want you," Mr Saunders said. "But it means we've been able to keep some part of our economy ticking along."
The number of Greater Sydney workers was not disclosed, but it's the same team working across both developments.
"The vast majority, more than 80 per cent, of our workers on the two major intersection projects are local or from regional NSW," Mr Lunn said.
"Both intersection upgrades are due to wrap up before the end of the year."
