Mr Jones is standing in the north ward in the upcoming Dubbo Regional Council election.
He said his position as a taxi driver means he comes into contact with the public every day, allowing him to hear their thoughts and concerns.
Mr Jones said his strong organisational skills would also be an asset on council.

"What I intend to bring to council is my knowledge of the town, which I hope to translate into improving their quality of life," the council candidate said.
"I want to address the things that I believe are being overlooked by council. I'm not just talking about the roads and rubbish, I'm also talking about things like damaged street signs, where people have climbed up them and forced the sign in the wrong direction."
Mr Jones is also very passionate about city planning.
"We should be able to continue to have a well thought out, well-planned town that leaves the people of the future at council options to continue the theme that is already going along the river - the theme of the natural environment, quality of life and urban development," he said.
"I would like to see something like Stonehaven Avenue where you have the walking path that gives people quality of life. I cannot see any reason why our priority should not be to reproduce that."
Mr Jones doesn't believe the River Street bridge is needed, but said at the very least it should go to Bunglegumbie Road.
He would prefer a river crossing from Obley Road to the Macquarie and Fitzroy intersection.
Mr Jones said in the coming decades, as the city continues to develop, a bridge in that location would make the most sense.
It would also help to get heavy vehicles away from the CBD, the council candidate said.
Overall, Mr Jones, who drives taxis with Dubbo Radio Cabs said he wants to see better efficiency on the roads.
"My knowledge of the town cannot be beaten. The only person who can beat me is another long-term cab driver," he said.
The local government elections will be held on September 4.
In the Dubbo local government area, 10 councillors will be elected, two from each of the five wards.
