With over 19 years' experience in the early childhood industry, Imagine Childcare & Preschool Blueridge Park's Centre Director, Therese Manusu, knows how important quality Preschool Programs are to a child's learning, development, and successful transition to a formal schooling environment.
"By attending Preschool one or two years before they start school, children gain important social skills that are vital to success when starting 'big school'. They are also exposed to different learning scenarios, encouraging the growth and development of their brains," she said.
"Alongside academic skills and developing a love for learning, children attending our Preschool Program also learn so many other important skills they will take with them through life; such as how to take turns, role playing, developing self-help skills and confidence, and learning social skills such as how to form friendships that can last a lifetime.
Children in the Preschool Program begin their day with indoor play experiences, which Ms Manusu said allows children the opportunity to guide their own learning and express what they would like to learn about.
"We have recently been learning about dinosaurs and their habitats as the children developed a great interest in dinosaurs," she said. "To watch as the children change, and develop so many more new skills in their year before school, is a really special experience.
"Our Preschool classroom is equipped with fantastic natural resources that complement our play-based curriculum. We incorporate technology into our program with the use of interactive whiteboards for children's learning and technological development."
The centre has brand-new playgrounds that include adventure forts and bike tracks, and allow the children to enjoy outdoor play where they can move their bodies and develop their gross motor skills.
Imagine also has a Transition to School Program, which Ms Manusu said assists children to develop important self-help skills they will use when attending a formal schooling environment. "Every Preschool child is given a free backpack, a hat, a drink bottle and polo shirt to help them become familiar with a school routine," she said. "Children also enjoy 'lunch box weeks', to become familiar with the process of lunch times at school, and become confident with skills such as tying up their own shoelaces."
The centre is currently taking new enrolments into their Preschool Program, and families are encouraged to book in a tour of the centre to come and meet the team. Parents can call 1300 001 154 or visit the centre's website at www.imagineelc.com.au/blueridge.
