Another grade has been added to the competition and Kaitlyn Mason knows this season could be the biggest yet.

"It has come around fast," she said.

"It will be good to get back into it, they've changed a few things and added a grade so we have an Under 12s this year.

"So we have the 12s, 14s, 16s, 18s and Opens. I think we've had to close regos for a few grades already due to a lot of interest and returning players.

"It will be good to get stuck into it."

After the competition started a few years ago, it has only gotten bigger each season.

Mason was pleased after two more rounds were added to this year's competition to allow players to play more tackle football.

"They have an extended competition this year with an extra two rounds which have been added," she said.

Mason knows the competition will only increase in size with the current regions involved across the five divisions.

"It's grown really quick," she said.

"That just goes to show the rapid interest in the central west not only in our region but in other regions as well.

"That interest of young girls who are coming through and who have watched the last few seasons [is growing].

"I think we started with a 9's comp and now we have six regions which is good, hopefully it only gets stronger and can grow from here."

Future stars like Taneka Todhunter have come through the Goannas pathway and Mason feels she won't be the last star from the region to move to Sydney.

"It's great, it's something that is only going to grow a lot more with those pathways," she said.

"We've had the likes of Taneka go through and make NSW and Country which is a huge achievement on her behalf.

"Being able to coach her has been good and the determination to get there and success and test herself is good.

"It's really good we have that pathway now and with the talent we have out this way, I think we will have a few more go through the pathway and play down in Sydney."

For many other the players it will be straight into the season with the WWRL season set to start the weekend after the Group 11 grand finals in just under two months time.

The Goannas season will start in early September with registrations open for most of the grades still open.
