With school's going back in regional areas, NSW Health and NESA are recommending secondary students, teachers and parents to wear masks while on school premises.
Dubbo College Senior Campus principal Charles Gauci said while mask-wearing hasn't been mandated at this stage, it is something they are encouraging students and staff to do.
"All school's across regional NSW are on level two, which means, we recommend all students and staff wear masks," he said.
"It is not mandated, but obviously what we're looking for is the safety of our students and staff, so we recommend they do.
"We would hope most people will look at the wellbeing of everyone and wear masks when they can, particularly when inside.
"But, there will be no action taken against people who don't, it is their choice."
Some private schools may choose to enforce the recommendations.
The recommendations encourage mask-wearing for all staff and all students from years seven and above while indoors.
Mr Gauci said one thing in particular Dubbo College is cracking down on is visitation.
"The key thing is, we're limiting visits to the school (on all campus') to essential visits only," he said.
"So, if parents and carers need to come into the school, it's important they ring before hand and make an appointment, and that they will, obviously, use the QR codes to check-in and out.
"Parents and carers really shouldn't be onsite unless it's an essential visit.
"We also ask that they follow the guidelines around safe meeting practices, social distancing.
"All staff will also be using QR codes every day."
Mr Gauci said flexibility around changes relating to restrictions and recommendations is important.
"I think the nature of what's happening, particularly in Sydney, at the moment means that we need to be flexible and keep up with what's happening," he said.
"We follow the advice we're given, continually look out for any updates and then act appropriately depending on the circumstances.
"The Department of Education has been very supportive by community with as as things change."
All COVID-19 restrictions and recommendations for NSW are subject to change on any given day depending on the varying circumstances.
Currently in regional areas mask wearing indoors, social distancing and QR Codes sign-in are mandatory.
